For club dates and jazz fests in Philly and beyond, Ernesto's Club performs as a Brazilian jazz quartet, playing choro, samba and bossa nova classics. With Fernanda Bravo on vocals and percussion, Josh Machiz on bass, Rob Curto on piano, and Gregg Mervine on drumset (his original instrument), the group opens up on classic repertoire for fresh versions of Brazilian classics. They take inspiration from samba jazz legends like Elis Regina and Sergio Mendes, and instrumental groups like Zimba Trio.
The quartet has a monthly gig at Philadelphia's Cellar Dog club on 15th and Latimer.
